The town of Vientiane - capital of Laos

Vientiane is on the bank of the Mekong river. Across the river is the Thai city Nong Khai, and Udon Thani is not far.
A friendship bridge connects Vientiane and Nong Khai. Vientiane also has an international airport - Wattay International Airport.

The Monument

The view from the Monument below has changed. Today there is a nice garden with fountains and a car park. The roundabout still exists but it now follows the outer edge around the new park.
